ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Introduction
According to the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] (2010), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurobehavioral disorders of childhood. It is a developmental neurobiological condition defined by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) as the presence of severe and pervasive symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity (cited in Daley & Birchwood, 2010). It is the most commonly studied and diagnosed psychiatric disorder in children, affecting about 3 to 5 percent of children globally (Wikipedia, 2011). It is diagnosed more often in boys than girls (PubMed Health, 2011). According to the APA, criteria for an ADHD diagnosis involves a number of inattentive, impulsive, and hyperactive behaviors over a 6 month period before the age of 7, both at home and in school, which impair daily functioning (cited in Daley & Birchwood, 2010). 30 to 50 percent of the children diagnosed with ADHD continue to have symptoms as adults (Wikipedia, 2011). This can cause problems with relationships, job performance, and job retention. Treatment for this chronic disorder involves medications, behavior modifications, lifestyle changes, and counseling.Causes
The cause of ADHD is unknown. Doctors and researchers aren’t sure what causes it. They believe it is most likely caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain (Riley, 2011). There also appears to be a genetic factor, since ADHD tends to run in families (Riley, 2011). There are some risk factors that may increase the child’s chances of developing ADHD, and they are: (Riley, 2011)
Being a first-born boy
Having a parent or sibling (especially an identical twin) with ADHD
Having a mother who smoked cigarettes or drank alcohol during pregnancy
Being born prematurely
Having a head injury before the age of 2
Being exposed to high levels of lead or certain pesticides
Research does not support the…

Legalization of Marijauna

Legalization Of Marijuana
If tobacco is legal, why not legalize and tax marijuana? The packaging of marijuana, and taxing it, would increase revenue for the government. According to the Department of Treasury, as of January 2013, revenue was at 26,515,225,854. (ttb.gov) That includes cigarettes, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco, pipe tobacco, and roll your own, manufactured domestically or received from Puerto Rico. (ttb.gov) The condition of this country would be improved if marijuana was legalized.
Marijuana being legalized would decrease the amount of people in jail. There would be more room for more severe crimes. I say this because, according to a study, between 2010 and 2011, California experienced a drastic 20 percent decrease in juvenile crime–bringing the underage crime rate to the lowest level since the state started keeping records in 1954. (Sankin huffingtonpost.com par. 1) In that one-year period, the number of arrests for violent crimes dropped by 16 percent, homicide went down by 26 percent and drug arrests decreased by nearly 50 percent. (Sankin huffingtonpost.com par. 1)
Differences between recreational and medicinal marijuana is that medicinally, like in California, you have to have a prescription card from a doctor, while recreationally like they do in Colorado, as long as your 21 and over, marijuana is legal. But the concept of the state government growing and selling marijuana itself, in an effort to stem any illicit sale or use of the drug, has been floated by some legalization advocates. (Sankin huffingtonpost.com par 2)But the task force dismissed state production at the onset of its report, concluding that Amendment 64 clearly envisioned a private industry regulated by the government. (Sankin huffingtonpost.com par 3)
I believe the legalization of marijuana would have its pros and cons, but the pros as of today, in recent studies are very inviting indeed!…

Diversity at Work

Diversity at WorkDiversity is the presence of people from different backgrounds and possessing different traits as well as differences in ages and race. Ethnic origin, culture, physical abilities, religion and sexual orientation are just some possible contributors to diversity when you think on the lines of building or working on a team, being in Leadership or Management. A diverse workforce combines workers from different backgrounds and experiences that together breed a more creative, innovative, and productive workforce. And businesses have learned that they can draw upon our nation’s diversity to strengthen their bottom line. In this way, diversity is a key ingredient to growing a strong and inclusive economy that’s built to last. There are many challenges for company leaders when it comes to diversity in the workplace. Many people are unfamiliar with other cultures and have never had to learn to coexist with people from completely different backgrounds. Companies that offer some diversity training and proactively manage; their workplace will be acceptable to promote tolerance and acceptance of differences, and a better chance of being successful. We understand that people with different cultural, gender and national backgrounds will, with contrasting experiences behind them, offer differing perspectives and opinions about any given problem. It is a more important implication that people, who appear to be similar to each other, such as two middle-aged white men or black men, will share the same views. The benefit of diversity does not principally come from people who are “different” offering “different” perspectives to me are the benefit. An organization’s success and competitiveness depends upon its ability to embrace diversity and realize the benefits. A diverse collection of skills and experiences (languages, cultural understanding) allows a company to provide service to customers on a global basis. Companies…

1. When you are notified that a user’s workstation or system is acting strangely and log files indicate system compromise, what is the first thing you should do to the workstation or system and whyInform the IT help desk to have the user cease all activity on the workstation and to wait for you to arrive at the physical desktop location. The workstation must first be physically disconnected from the network leaving it physically isolated but now powered off. It should be left in its steady-state.
This isolates the contaminated workstation from the organization’s network and Internet, as well as preventing the contamination from spreading. Logs, memory forensics, footprints, and other malicious activity must be kept in its steady-state untouched. Forensic images of the logs should be performed along with a memory forensics scan. Anti-virus and anti-malicious software removal tools can be enabled from a CD-drive
2. When an anti-virus application identifies a virus and quarantines this file, does this mean the computer is eradicated of the virus and any malicious softwareNo, many times virus and trojans can leave residuals or wreak havoc on other processes. It is important to note that the quarantined file is never off the computer until cleaned out or deleted – it’s like putting the unknown file in a holding tank until you can assess what it is and how to eradicate.

The disease that I am studying is osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is when your body fails to form new bone. It is a disease that weakens the bones in your body. Osteoporosis is when too much existing bone is reabsorbed by the body. Osteoporosis can lead to an increased risk of bone fractures in bone mass and bone density. Osteoporosis can cause spine, hip, and wrist damage. It can also cause you to lose as much as six inches in your height over time. Osteoporosis occurs after the age of seventy five and is seen in both men and women, although, women are more likely to have osteoporosis then the men. When you have osteoporosis, you are losing some of the material that makes up your bones. If osteoporosis is not treated it can cause you to have a lot of broken bones. Broken bones can lead to a lot of pain height loss deformed backbones and difficulty moving around. This can lead to permanate damage.

Integrative Network Design ProjectIntegrative Network Design Project Abstract Kudler Fine Foods is currently seeking to connect three locations via a Wide Area Network (WAN), create a wireless local area network (WLAN) in each store and add a voice over internet protocol phone system throughout the network. The purpose of this paper is to lay out a design that will accomplish these goals and includes the ability to expand beyond the current stores.
Hardware and Software All computer networks are comprised of hardware components and software. Kudler Fine Foods has three locations and each of these locations require their own hardware components. The software components of the network will also need to be installed at each of the locations. The hardware components of the network, that will be located at each site, are a router, switch, firewall, end nodes, and wireless access points. A router will be used to allow each site to communicate with the other locations. A switch will be used to connect all of the point of sale terminals and user terminals with the router. A hardware firewall will be placed between the internet and the router to prevent unauthorized access to the system. The term end node refers to any device that is connected to the end of the wired or wireless network. End nodes, or end devices include user desktops, point of sale terminals, and server in this particular case. The wireless access points will be configured to only allow company approved devices access. The devices that are approved and the wireless access points themselves will be set to highest available level of security to reduce the possibility of external threats gaining access to the network. (Isaac, 2008) The software involved with the required security would include configurations, firewalls, and anti-virus software. The routers, switches, wireless access points, and servers at each location will be configured to limit the number of possibile…

The American Disabilities Act
The American with Disabilities Act was an act signed into legislation on July 26, 1990. It was put into action by Senator Tom Harkin. The American Disabilities act was enacted to prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities. Under this act it is illegal to discriminate against the disabled in employment, transportation, public accommodations, communications, and government activities. This law prohibits private employers, state and local governments, employment agencies and labor unions from discriminating against the disabled. Employers are required to make reasonable accommodations to allow the disabled person to perform their job function.
Handicapped people come with all different forms of disabilities. Handicap people who are able to function out in the public can qualify to work under the American Disabilities Act. This includes only people with a handicap, employers who receive federal assistance, and qualified participates. When talking about people with disabilities it means they have records of impairment, have physical or mental impairments that limit them to one or more major life activities of such. These are a few physical disabilities people in the world live with such as a cosmetic disfigurement, hearing impaired, blind, or paraplegic. Other disabilities include muscular dystrophy, cancer, epilepsy, and diabetes. The other form of disability is mental impairment which is emotional or mental illness.
Since this bill was enacted there has been many resources that have come about to help people with disabilities to have a more fulfilled life. One group that offers so much for all kinds of handicapped people is the service dogs. These dogs are put through extensive training to sense different illnesses or sick people. These dogs have…

marketing

Marketers face ever greater pressure to retain and grow sales from existing customers, while trying to maximise opportunities from new ones. Your organisation may have a good understanding of market share, and sales figures may provide a measure of success, but are there aspects of your existing customers’ behaviour that you need to understand in more detail? Do you know how potential customers view your brand or product
Market assessment research can help you focus on the competitive strengths and weaknesses of your product or service within your target market, identify opportunities to improve your offering, and help you ensure marketing strategies are correctly positioned to achieve maximum relevance and impact.Below are a number of practical tips for conducting a successful market assessment study. They will help you create a defined market position for your brand, develop profitable products and services and improve your bottom line.1. Define your marketBe precise about the market you want to assess. Consider where the bulk of your business comes from at the moment, and/or where you realistically have opportunities to grow, and focus your resources. Don’t dilute the power of the research to help strengthen your position in this core base by trying to canvass the whole world.2. Who to survey
To provide a reliable overview of your competitive position, the research must be based on a representative sample of the market you have defined. This means going beyond your own customers and contacts. It can be tempting to use in-house marketing databases for this type of project, but that will provide a skewed result, unless you know for certain that you hold records of all the relevant players. If you only measure awareness of your brand among people who already receive communications from you, you may over-estimate your position relative to your competitors. Use an independent, comprehensive business list to sample from, and you will obtain a…
